This week some college friends and I will be making our annual beach trip to Ocean City, MD. I have been looking forward to this trip for weeks now – sun, sand, Seacrets and some really good crab!
There’s a really great seafood spot we usually get to for dinner at least once every year. It’s a tiny, no frills, unassuming little place that would be easy to walk by and miss – we actually only stumbled upon it by (happy) accident – but the seafood is as fresh as it gets and really yummy. Whenever we go there I always get the crab cakes.
Since this trip only comes around once a year, I’ll sometimes make these crab cakes and old bay fries to reminisce the beach days (and just to have something delicious to eat).
This dish hits just the spot! The fresh lumps of crab meat delicately pan-fried and served with the bright and tangy tartar sauce is great on it’s own — but the old bay fries make it a great meal for any summer night. Here’s the recipe for your own crab cake adventure!

Where are some of your favorite beaches (or other vacation spots) to visit?
With summer just beginning, I hope you have some exciting trips planned with family and friends too! And if a trip isn’t in your future and you’re close enough to a beach, a spontaneous day trip to the beach can be just as fun.
Orrrr maybe you’re not a beach person or just aren’t that close to one. If that’s the case, at the very least try to enjoy some fresh and yummy seafood this summer!
