Cuban Sandwich Recipe

  • (1) loaf Cuban bread (you can substitute French bread or a hoagie roll if you want)
  • (½) lb ham, sliced
  • (½) lb pork tenderloin — in mojo marinade if you can find it
  • (¼) lb swiss cheese
  • (8) dill pickle slices
  • (8) tbsp butter, softened
  • yellow mustard

  1. Preheat oven to 450ºF
  2. Place pork in roasting pan and roast in oven for (about 10-15 minutes)
  3. Reduce the heat to 350ºF and let pork cook until internal temperature reaches 145ºF (about 15-20 minutes)
  4. Let pork rest for about 10 minutes
  5. Once cooled, slice pork in about 1-inch thick slices
  6. Cut ends off Cuban bread and then cut roll in half (you can make 2 sandwiches per loaf)
  7. Slice each half of bread open to assemble the sandwich
  8. Spread ½ tablespoon butter on each half of the sandwich (1 tablespoon per sandwich)
  9. Next add an even layer of yellow mustard over the butter, on each half of the bread
  10. Layer 4 pickle slices on the bottom half of the sandwich followed by the sliced pork, ham and swiss cheese
  11. Place sandwich on a greased panini press over medium-high to high heat (if you don’t have a panini press, just add the sandwich to a griddle or pan over medium-high heat and use another pan as a weight to press sandwich down)
  12. Press sandwich for 5-10 minutes until the cheese has melted and the bread has turned a light golden, crispy brown
  13. Slice sandwich diagonally before serving
  14. Repeat with second sandwich
