ingredients.

  • (1) lb ground turkey
  • (1) tbsp of each: chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, dried onions
  • (½) cup ketchup
  • (1) chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, diced
  • (2) tsp sriracha sauce
  • (2) tsp adobo sauce (from canned chipotle peppers)
  • (4) green lettuce leaves
  • (4) sesame hamburger buns
  • salt & pepper

directions.

  1. Combine ground turkey with spices and mix well with your hands (be careful not to over-handle the ground turkey or the burgers will be tough)
  2. Form the spiced ground turkey into 4 evenly shaped patties, making the center of the patty a little bit thinner and the outside edge of the patty a bit thicker — this will ensure an even cooking time and will help prevent dried out burgers — set patties aside to rest
  3. Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat and brush with oil to prevent sticking
  4. While grill/pan heats up, prepare chipotle ketchup by mixing together the ketchup, diced chipotle pepper, adobo sauce and sriracha — taste and adjust for your pallet, you can add more ketchup if it’s too spicy (or more peppers and sauce if it’s not spicy enough!)
  5. Sprinkle the outside of the patties with salt and pepper, then place on the heated grill or grill pan
  6. Cook each side for 6-7 minutes until meat thermometer reads 165ºF
  7. Assemble burgers with bun, lettuce, turkey burger, chipotle ketchup, bun
  8. Serve and enjoy!
